About EPA

Emergency Physicians Affiliates (EPA) was formed in 1973 and is engaged in the business of recruiting and scheduling emergency Physicians for medical coverage of Hospital based Emergency Departments,  Emergency Specialty Hospitals, and Urgent Cares . EPA has been the sole emergency services provider to the Baptist Health System in San Antonio, TX for over 35 years and has also staffed other Emergency Departments in South Central Texas. EPA and the emergency Physicians associated with our group are very involved with all medical staff activities. In 1995, EPA formed River City Emergency Physicians (hereinafter “RCEP”) for the sole purpose of contracting with insurance companies on behalf of the group for the Baptist Health System. We are known throughout the State and medical community as both EPA, while locally in the Baptist Health System as RCEP.

EPA’s goal is to provide Physicians an excellent practice opportunity, with a focus on quality of life issues. EPA encourages it’s Physicians to participate in leadership roles as Chairman of the BHS Emergency Service line, Medical Directors at each ED, Clinical Directors at each ED, a Physician Coach for Satisfaction, and other Ad Hoc hospital related committees. EPA’s desire is that each Physician will take ownership of their practice, and strive for constant improvement with all related ED metrics.

Rural Emergency Medicine

More to come.

Billing and Coding

The business of Emergency Medicine is critical to any group’s success. EPA partners with Marina Medical Billing Services who provide the highest level of coding and billing support. Because many of our physicians are paid based on productivity, it is vital that they understand the requirements of proper documentation. Marina’s level of service has been excellent and EPA values it’s continued relationship.
